The shocking response from Sadiq Khan when I asked if grooming gangs exist in London – Susan Hall

Labour has tried to stop us from finding out the truth about the grooming gangs scandal. When GB News found evidence of these gangs in at least fifty towns across the country, it raised serious concerns that the same crimes might have happened in London.
The truth is, we don’t know for sure because no one has properly investigated it across the whole city. But what we do know from places like Lambeth and Tower Hamlets is shocking—it suggests the abuse could be much worse than we realize.
In Lambeth, a 2021 report found that the council failed to protect children for decades, leading to hundreds, maybe thousands, of kids being sexually abused. In Tower Hamlets, officials even blamed the young victims and called their abusers “boyfriends.” If grooming gangs were operating in these areas, they likely would have gotten away with it.
Labour has blocked efforts to uncover the truth. They stopped a national inquiry and replaced it with weak local investigations—none of them in London. In City Hall, my Conservative colleagues and I pushed for a full London-wide inquiry, but the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, rejected it. When I asked him directly if grooming gangs existed in London, he refused to answer and instead asked me what a grooming gang was. If the Mayor doesn’t even know what they are, how can he stop them?
Labour’s refusal to act makes you wonder—why? Sir Trevor Phillips recently called their response “utterly shameful” and said it was political, likely because many of the abusers come from communities that Labour doesn’t want to upset.
This isn’t good enough. Victims were failed by councils, police, and prosecutors for years. We must find out the truth so this never happens again. The police need full support to go after these criminals—no matter who they are. Only by investigating without fear can we get justice for the victims.
GB News has asked the Mayor’s office for a response.
