Man Who Lied About His Age to Groom a 13-Year-Old Girl and Sexually Assaulted Her Avoids Jail After Judge Gives Reason
A man who lied about his age to gain the trust of a 13-year-old girl before sexually assaulting her has avoided going to prison after being given a suspended sentence.
Boer Ahmad pretended he was 15 years old when he first met the schoolgirl in September 2025. The pair started talking on Snapchat, where they exchanged messages and made video calls. The girl later described their conversations as feeling like a normal romantic relationship, and they eventually agreed to meet before school one morning.
During their first meeting, they walked together through a wooded area, held hands and hugged. Ahmad also left love bites on the girl’s neck. The court heard that the teenager was upset by this and later asked him to promise he would never do it again.
However, during another meeting in the same woodland, Ahmad sexually assaulted the girl. When she questioned what he was doing, he reportedly told her, “It’s fine, trust me.” The girl made it clear that she did not want any sexual activity and immediately left the scene.
Not long afterwards, she discovered that Ahmad had lied about his age and was actually 18 years old. The incident was then reported to police, leading to an investigation.
When officers first questioned him, Ahmad denied knowing the girl. He falsely claimed his phone had been stolen and insisted he had never met her. As the investigation continued, he eventually admitted what had happened and pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15, and one count of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl in the same age group.
The prosecution told the court that Ahmad claimed he believed the girl was consenting. Although prosecutors did not accept that version of events, they did not challenge it further during the case.
In a victim impact statement read in court, the girl explained how deeply the incident had affected her life. She said she continues to suffer emotional breakdowns, has frequent nightmares and struggles to cope at school, meaning she now only attends part-time. She told the court that she would never forget what had happened because it continues to affect her every day.
Ahmad’s lawyer said he accepts he made a serious mistake and now understands the law surrounding the age of consent. She argued that the relationship was short-lived and claimed he never forced the girl to do anything, although he admitted lying about being 15. She also pointed to his difficult childhood, telling the court that he grew up in Sweden where he suffered physical abuse from his stepfather before moving to the UK in 2019 to live with his father. Since arriving, she said he had been doing well, attending college and working part-time.
His defence asked the judge not to send him to prison, arguing that he had shown remorse and was unlikely to commit similar offences again.
Judge William Mousley KC acknowledged Ahmad’s troubled upbringing but said the seriousness of the offences could not be ignored. However, he concluded that Ahmad had a realistic chance of rehabilitation and decided to suspend the prison sentence instead of sending him immediately to jail.
The judge sentenced Ahmad to 27 months in prison, suspended for three years. He must also complete 180 hours of unpaid work and up to 20 rehabilitation activity sessions. In addition, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim. Ahmad was also ordered to pay the girl £2,000 in compensation.
The case was heard at Southampton Crown Court.
