The Internet Slams Donald Trump For ‘Tacky’ Makeover Of The Oval Office After He ‘Trumpifies’ It In Before And After Photos: ‘WOW

Now that Donald Trump is back in the White House, he’s been spending a lot of time changing up the decorations. It’s not totally clear what look he’s going for, but it seems like he’s trying to make everything look more gold and flashy. He’s added lots of gold frames and decorations all over the place.

According to *The Wall Street Journal*, Trump brought in a cabinetmaker named John Icart, someone he’s worked with before at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Icart is known as Trump’s “gold guy” because he specializes in adding gold details. For the Oval Office alone, Icart added gold borders to portraits of Trump and Vice President JD Vance, gold carvings on the fireplace mantel, a gold version of Trump’s personal crest, gold drink coasters, and more.

Trump also brought some gold angel statues—called cherubs—from Mar-a-Lago. In a Fox News interview back in March, he talked about them, saying, “They’re gold, all gold. It’s angels. They say angels bring good luck, and we need a lot of luck in this country after what’s happened over the last four years.”

But not everyone is impressed by Trump’s makeover. People on social media have been comparing his version of the Oval Office to how it looked during Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s time. Back then, the room was decorated more simply, with framed pictures and a few potted plants on the mantel.

One person commented that Trump’s style is “cheap, gaudy, tacky, and tasteless.” Someone else joked that he “stuck plastic garbage all over the Oval Office,” even linking to decorations from Home Depot that looked similar and cost less than \$50. Another user criticized Trump for not appreciating the traditional and elegant design of the White House, saying he tries to make it look like the Palace of Versailles with cheap decorations.
