Expert issues terrifying warning as he claims Earth is facing a once-in-6,000 year mass extinction

Ben Davidson, the founder of Space Weather News, has issued a frightening warning. According to him, Earth may be facing a disaster unlike anything seen in thousands of years. He says that we are already living through the early stages of an event that could wipe out as much as 90 percent of the human population.
Davidson explained during an interview on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast that this threat comes from our own sun. He believes that a huge solar explosion, something he calls a “micronova,” could trigger a shift in Earth’s magnetic poles. If that happens, the results could be devastating. Massive tsunamis, violent climate changes, food shortages, and even mass extinction could follow.
He points out that science supports his theory. The Earth’s magnetic shield, which normally protects us from the sun’s radiation, is already weakening. This shield is powered by molten iron currents moving deep in the Earth’s outer core. As these currents shift, the magnetic field becomes unstable, the poles slowly move, and our natural protection grows weaker.
Davidson warns that every 6,000 years, the Earth experiences a solar explosion of some kind, and every 12,000 years, a much stronger one occurs. He says the patterns we are seeing now show that we are not just “due” for another one—it is already happening.
The last time something close to this happened was in 1859. It is known as the Carrington Event. Back then, a massive solar storm caused telegraph wires to spark, set fires, and disrupted communications worldwide. But that was long before our modern dependence on electricity, satellites, and digital systems. If a similar event happened today, the consequences would be far more severe.
Davidson says that within days of such an event, power grids around the world would fail. Without electricity, water pumps would stop working, grocery store shelves would empty, and gas stations would run dry. GPS systems that modern farming depends on would collapse, making it nearly impossible to grow or deliver food. Emergency services would be crippled. Life, as we know it, could come to a standstill.
“Within three days, there’s no gasoline at the pump. There’s no food at the store,” Davidson warned.
Climate evidence also supports his claim. He says the changes in weather patterns, extreme storms, and rising global instability are all signs that this shift is already underway. The weakening magnetic field is allowing more solar radiation to penetrate our atmosphere, causing disruptions we can already see.
To make things worse, a separate study from the University of Bristol has also predicted a grim future for humanity, though for different reasons. Their research suggests that if humans do not drastically cut back on fossil fuel use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, our species could be headed for extinction within the next 250 million years.
The Earth has not seen a true mass extinction since the age of the dinosaurs, 66 million years ago. But if Davidson’s predictions come true, we could be standing at the edge of another—one that happens within our lifetimes.
