The freezing weather definitely didn’t help this ICE officer, and now a short video has everyone talking. After a clip surfaced online showing an ICE agent slipping hard on an icy street, people across the internet have been reacting with the same mix of shock, humor, and criticism.
ICE officers have been active in several parts of the United States in recent months, but events in Minneapolis, Minnesota, have drawn particular attention. On January 7, an ICE officer shot and killed a 37-year-old mother who was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car.
The woman was later identified as Renee Nicole Good. Some reports claim she tried to run over an officer with her vehicle, while others argue she was simply trying to leave the area when she was shot. The incident has sparked anger, confusion, and debate nationwide.
The officer who fired the fatal shot has been identified as Jonathan Ross, a 43-year-old Minneapolis resident who has reportedly worked with ICE since 2015. He previously served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005 and is also said to be part of a local SWAT team and the FBI’s anti-terrorism task force. Vice President JD Vance has publicly stated that Ross has “absolute immunity” from criminal charges, a comment that has only intensified public backlash and scrutiny.
As attention has focused on Ross, it has also expanded to ICE officers more broadly, especially those currently operating in Minneapolis. Tensions have been high, and protests against ICE have drawn crowds and strong emotions.
During one of these moments, a member of the public recorded video of an ICE officer suddenly running toward anti-ICE protesters who were shouting at officers. As he ran, the officer lost his footing and slipped on a patch of ice, crashing to the ground. The fall immediately triggered loud laughter and applause from the crowd watching nearby.
The clip was shared online and quickly went viral. At the time it was posted, it had already received around 55,000 upvotes on Reddit alone. Many viewers treated the moment as darkly ironic, joking that an ICE officer couldn’t even handle ice.
People flooded the comments with jokes and reactions. One person said the joy and laughter from the bystanders was priceless and that they clearly needed that moment of relief. Another joked that it was “ice assaulting ice.” Others said the officer couldn’t have looked more foolish if he tried, adding that it was a shame his face wasn’t visible.
Several commenters pointed out how reckless it was to run on icy ground in Minnesota during winter, calling it a classic mistake. Others were more confused than amused, questioning why the officer was running at all. Some wondered who he was chasing, or if he had started running to intimidate protesters and then immediately regretted it once he fell. A few people suggested that whatever he thought was important enough to run for clearly wasn’t worth it in the end.
In the end, the video left more questions than answers. No one seems to know what the officer intended to do, why he ran, or what happened immediately afterward. What is clear is that the clip struck a nerve, becoming a symbol for many people’s frustration with ICE, while also giving others a moment of grim humor during an already tense situation.
