Another Neighbour Speaks Out About What He Saw Ann Widdecombe Suspect Load Into His Car Before Driving Off on the Day Ann Was Found Dead
Neighbours of the man arrested on suspicion of murdering former MP Ann Widdecombe have spoken about what they say they saw shortly before he drove away in a red car. They claimed the man appeared to place what looked like “some kind of wooden stick” into the passenger side of the vehicle before leaving the area. At the time, they said it did not seem important, but after hearing about the police investigation, they felt it was something officers should know.
The suspect was arrested in South Yorkshire, almost 300 miles from Ms Widdecombe’s home on the edge of Dartmoor, where she was found dead on Thursday after suffering a serious head injury. His arrest came after detectives launched a major murder investigation into the death of the former Conservative minister and Reform UK campaigner.
People living nearby said they were shocked when police arrived to arrest the man. Many described the quiet street being filled with officers as they carried out the operation. Neighbours said they never expected such a serious investigation to be linked to someone living in their community.
One resident said they remembered seeing the man with the red car and the object he placed inside it before driving away. They described it as looking like a wooden stick but admitted they had no idea whether it had any connection to the investigation.
