Trump made the demand in a post on his Truth Social account on Monday. He said oil was flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, an important shipping route used to transport oil and other goods around the world.

Trump said he believes other countries have not done enough to help the United States during the conflict, even though he argues that American military action is also protecting their interests.
He said countries around the world should reimburse the United States once the conflict is over because America is doing more for other nations than it is doing for itself.
Trump also argued that the United States has been carrying this kind of responsibility for other countries for generations.
His comments come at a difficult time for international shipping and energy markets. There are concerns about another important shipping route in the Middle East being affected by the conflict, which could put more pressure on the movement of oil and other goods.
At the same time, fuel prices in the United States have continued to rise, with diesel prices reportedly reaching record levels this month. Trump later posted another message about rising prices in America. He said he hopes voters will not blame his administration for the increases.
Instead, Trump blamed former President Joe Biden and the previous administration. He argued that many of the price increases Americans are experiencing were caused by policies introduced before he returned to office.
Trump also defended his actions against Iran, saying his administration had prevented the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
