Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has made a serious warning about the future of the Republican Party, saying it could have no chance of winning the 2028 presidential election if Donald Trump continues to control who becomes the party’s next candidate.
Greene, who was once a strong supporter of Trump but has since become one of his critics, made the comments on Friday after the president announced a major change in his White House team.
Trump revealed that Susie Wiles would step down as White House Chief of Staff and be replaced by Stephen Miller on Monday.
The announcement came just days after Republicans suffered major defeats in the midterm elections, with Democrats winning control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
According to Trump, Wiles will now move to a new position within his political operation. Despite leaving her White House role, she made it clear that she would continue supporting the president and his political goals.
However, Greene believes the changes could create even bigger problems for Republicans.
Speaking to her followers on X, she warned that Americans who are already unhappy with the Trump administration should not expect things to improve.
She suggested that Stephen Miller could take an even tougher approach as the White House prepares to face investigations from Democrats when the new Congress takes office in January 2027.
Greene said Democrats would soon have control of powerful congressional committees, giving them the ability to investigate the president and members of his administration.
She believes this could put Trump and his team under serious pressure over the next two years.
But her biggest concern is what could happen during the 2028 presidential election.
According to Greene, Trump and Wiles may be trying to maintain control of the Republican Party so they can decide who will represent it in the next presidential race.
She warned that if they succeed, Republicans could have absolutely no chance of winning the White House in 2028.
Greene argued that many Americans who supported Trump during the 2024 election have become disappointed with his administration.
She specifically mentioned independent voters, libertarians and supporters of the America First movement, saying many of them would refuse to support a presidential candidate chosen by Trump.
The former congresswoman believes these voters played an important role in helping Trump win the 2024 election, but their support should no longer be taken for granted.
She also warned that a large group of people who once supported Trump would closely examine whoever the Republican leadership puts forward as its next presidential candidate.
According to Greene, these voters would investigate the candidate’s political record, promises and connections to the current administration before deciding whether to offer their support.
She accused Trump’s team of failing to deliver the changes they promised Americans during the election campaign.
Greene said Republican leaders might try to convince voters that supporting their preferred candidate would be necessary to save America, but she believes many people would no longer accept that argument.
She also questioned whether those currently leading the Republican Party truly represent conservative and Christian values.
According to Greene, the administration has failed to stand by the principles it promised to defend.
She went further by blaming Trump and his political team for the Republican Party’s poor performance in the midterm elections.
Greene argued that their failure to deliver on campaign promises helped Democrats gain control of Congress and become more powerful.
Her latest criticism comes after months of disagreements with Trump over several major issues, including the war involving Iran and the administration’s handling of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
Once considered one of Trump’s most loyal supporters, Greene has increasingly distanced herself from the president and openly challenged his decisions.
Her latest comments show how divisions within the Republican Party could become a major issue as politicians begin preparing for the next presidential election.
Although Greene has predicted a difficult future for Republicans, her warning remains a political opinion rather than a certainty.
