Ryan began digging deeper into Josh’s life. He discovered that while Emily had been financially independent and successful, Josh had been struggling with money and depended heavily on her. He spent much of her money on nightlife and personal pleasures. Ryan also uncovered that Josh had been secretly involved with another woman and was spending money on her through a hidden account.
This led Ryan to a hotel, where he met a receptionist named Leslie. She admitted that she had been in a relationship with Josh and believed he wanted to leave Emily. Leslie revealed something even more shocking—Emily had contacted her before her death, warning her that Josh might move on to someone else who could support him financially. Emily had already been planning to leave him, which would have left him with nothing. Leslie also admitted that she told Josh about this conversation, and he responded by saying he would “take care of everything.”
This raised even more suspicion. Ryan then remembered that Emily had been taking antidepressants, and he knew that mixing certain medications could be deadly. During interrogation, Josh stuck to his story. He denied knowing anything about the sedatives and claimed he had never seen them before. Ryan pushed harder, bringing up his affair with Leslie and suggesting that Emily had been standing in the way of the life he wanted. Josh became defensive but then revealed something unexpected.
