Trump Erupts in Rage as Pope’s Harsh New Rebuke Lands Surprise Blow

Things are getting tense between Pope Leo XIV and Donald Trump, and it’s turning into more than just a simple disagreement.

After the Pope openly criticized the war on Iran, Trump reacted angrily. He went on social media and attacked the Pope, calling him weak on crime and accusing him of not understanding the danger of Iran’s nuclear threat. Not long after that, Trump shared an image of himself portrayed as Jesus. The post quickly caused backlash, even from some of his own supporters, and he ended up deleting it. Still, he continued to express frustration about the Pope’s comments, saying he didn’t realize the image would be seen as offensive.

But according to Robert Jones, who leads the Public Religion Research Institute, the real impact of this situation goes much deeper than a political argument.

He explains that the Pope’s criticism wasn’t random or emotional. It seems carefully delivered in a way that could influence everyday conversations inside churches. Instead of just making headlines, it could quietly shape how people think at a local level, especially among Catholics sitting in pews, listening to priests, and discussing moral issues like war and leadership.

That’s where the real problem for Trump could begin. When religious leaders speak, especially someone as influential as the Pope, it can carry moral weight. It’s not just about politics anymore—it becomes a question of right and wrong in the eyes of believers.

Jones points out that this kind of message is likely to affect Catholics more strongly than Evangelical Christians, who have generally been more supportive of Trump. Catholics, on the other hand, are often more divided politically, and they may take the Pope’s words seriously when thinking about issues like war, justice, and leadership.

Because of that, Trump’s reaction—especially the angry tone and controversial posts—might actually make things worse for him among religious voters. Instead of dismissing the criticism, it could draw even more attention to it and push more people to reflect on what the Pope said.
