President Donald Trump was awake late into the night on Wednesday and spent the early hours of Thursday posting several messages on his social media platform, Truth Social. It appeared that he had a lot on his mind, as he shared opinions on the economy, elections, and other issues that have been drawing public attention.
One of Trump’s main complaints was about criticism over rising prices during his presidency. He strongly rejected claims that Americans are paying more for everyday goods and services. In a post, he declared that prices were falling across the country and that he and the Republican Party were winning what he called the “affordability wars” by record margins.
However, many economists and analysts point out that the cost of several goods and services has increased during his administration. Earlier price increases were linked to tariffs that affected imported products. More recently, tensions and military conflict involving Iran have contributed to higher oil prices. When oil prices rise, fuel becomes more expensive, and that often leads to higher costs for transportation, food, and many other everyday necessities.
Trump also shared an image online that combined his distinctive hairstyle with the logo of the comic book character The Punisher, a post that quickly attracted attention from both supporters and critics.
But the issue that seemed to concern him the most was California’s primary elections. Trump has long argued that voting by mail creates opportunities for fraud, even though there has been little evidence of widespread fraud linked to mail-in voting. Over the years, he has repeatedly criticized the system despite having voted by mail himself on several occasions.
In California, voting by mail has become extremely common. More than 80 percent of voters have used mail-in ballots in recent elections. State law allows ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day to be counted if they arrive within a specified period after the election.
Trump strongly disagrees with this process and views it as a potential source of election problems. Shortly before 1 a.m., he posted messages expressing frustration about ballots continuing to be counted after Election Day. He suggested that the practice raises concerns about election integrity and once again called for changes to voting rules.
Earlier this year, Trump signed an executive order aimed at creating a national voter registration list and placing new limits on mail-in voting. A federal judge allowed the order to remain in place for the time being because it has not yet been fully implemented. However, the ruling also leaves room for future legal challenges from opponents.
At the same time, Trump has been encouraging Congress to pass legislation that would impose stricter rules on mail-in voting and make other changes to election procedures. So far, the proposal faces significant obstacles in the Senate, where it lacks enough support to overcome procedural hurdles and move toward final passage.
As a result, election laws and voting procedures remain a major political battleground, with Trump continuing to make the issue one of his key priorities while critics argue that existing systems already contain safeguards to protect election integrity.
