Donald Trump Tells the Room to Hurry Up, Says He’s Leaving Early — Then Later Takes Off His Jacket, and Cameras Catch What’s All Over His Arm
President Donald Trump ended a State Department meeting about mining last week with a comment that attracted more attention than the policy being discussed.
The meeting was attended by mining industry leaders and government officials who expected a serious discussion about America’s supply of important minerals. However, Trump’s reason for leaving early quickly became one of the biggest talking points.
On Friday, August 7, Trump announced $100 million in funding for mining schools. The money is part of a wider plan to increase the production of critical minerals in the United States and reduce the country’s dependence on foreign suppliers.
Trump said the plan was important for both the US economy and national security. He also connected it to the continuing conflict with Iran.
“I didn’t know I was going to have so many people. I’ll be here all day,” Trump said. He then asked those attending to speak quickly because, in his words, the country had “a war to prosecute.”
Trump joked that the war was his excuse for leaving the meeting early. Although he appeared to be speaking lightly, the subject being discussed was closely connected to national defence.
The United States reportedly needs large amounts of critical minerals to produce precision-guided missiles, air-defence systems and other military equipment. Increasing domestic mining could therefore help the country strengthen its supply chain during a conflict.
However, Trump’s activities after the meeting raised questions about why he needed to leave so quickly. The following day, he attended a LIV Golf tournament at his Bedminster golf course in New Jersey.
According to the New York Post, it was his third appearance at a tournament held at one of his properties and his second LIV Golf event of the year.
Trump’s motorcade arrived near the clubhouse at about 10:30 a.m., around 90 minutes before the third round began. He changed out of his usual suit and wore a short-sleeved golf shirt.
He was later seen driving away from the clubhouse in a golf cart. Trump returned later in the day and waved to cheering spectators shortly before Bryson DeChambeau began playing the 16th hole.
By the end of the day, however, much of the online discussion was no longer about Trump’s early departure or the golf tournament. People were talking about the appearance of his arm.
Trump is in a rush to save the world. Or destroy the world. Which, in Trump’s understanding and actions, is the same thing.

Close-up photographs and videos appeared to show large marks and deeply dimpled skin on his arm as he waved to the crowd. The images quickly spread across social media, where users posted jokes and questions about what they had seen.
Some people asked what had happened to his wrist, while others compared the marks to injuries or fictional skin conditions. There is currently no confirmed explanation for the appearance of Trump’s arm, and online comments should not be treated as medical evidence.
Trump’s visits to golf courses have attracted criticism before. Only days earlier, he claimed that he had won his 43rd club championship at Bedminster after recording a score of two under par.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said his success came from talent. However, critics questioned the result and brought up earlier allegations that he does not always follow the normal rules while playing golf.
Similar accusations appeared in Rick Reilly’s 2019 book Commander in Cheat. The book alleged that Trump had moved golf balls, taken extra shots and declared himself the winner of competitions. Trump and his supporters have rejected criticism of his golfing achievements.

Trump has also repeatedly dismissed concerns about his health and energy. He has insisted that he remains physically and mentally capable of carrying out his duties.
Neither Trump’s team nor the White House had publicly explained the appearance of his arm or addressed the online speculation surrounding the photographs at the time of the report.
The event was supposed to highlight a major investment in America’s mining industry and national security. Instead, Trump’s rushed departure, his appearance at a golf tournament the following day and questions about his arm became the main subjects of public discussion.
