Donald Trump Tried to Humiliate Obama with ‘Vindictive’ and ‘Adolescent’ Online Attacks, Then the Internet Dragged Up One Brutal Fact That Completely Hijacked His Smear Campaign

President Donald Trump is once again facing heavy criticism over the way he uses AI-generated images, memes, and social media posts to attack people he sees as political enemies, especially former President Barack Obama. Critics say Trump has become deeply obsessed with Obama and continues spreading misleading or false claims online in ways many believe are dangerous and irresponsible for a former president.
On Sunday, May 24, Trump shared another controversial post targeting Obama and several officials who worked in his administration. The image looked like a fake “Brady Bunch”-style grid and showed AI-generated mugshots of Obama and some of his former top advisers. People featured in the image included former senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, former United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, former FBI Director James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and others.
In the edited image, Obama was shown wearing tan clothing while the others appeared in orange prison-style outfits holding signs with their names. The image was titled “The Shady Bunch,” clearly meant to mock and accuse them of wrongdoing.
Trump added a caption claiming they were “bad” and “destructive” people who caused damage to the country through what he called “weaponization.” Critics immediately reacted online, saying the post crossed another line and questioning how Republicans would react if Barack Obama or Joe Biden had shared something similar about Trump.
Many social media users mocked Trump and accused him of acting immature and vindictive. One person called him “an insecure baby boy,” while another said his behavior keeps showing signs of emotional instability and personal bitterness. Others pointed out the irony that Trump is actually the only U.S. president who has a real mugshot after being criminally indicted.
Several users also said Trump appears deeply jealous of Obama and unable to move on from his presidency. Some described the constant attacks as unhealthy obsession rather than political disagreement.
But Trump did not stop there. The following day, on Memorial Day, he shared another AI-generated image attacking Obama. This time, the image showed Obama pushing what looked like a large amount of cash beside references to Iran. Trump accused Obama of funding Iran and blamed him for current tensions and war in the Middle East.
The attacks continued again on Tuesday morning when Trump posted another cartoon-style image accusing Obama of sending money to Iran to fund nuclear weapons. In the post, Trump called Obama “treasonous” and suggested America’s current problems with Iran were entirely Obama’s fault.
Critics strongly rejected those claims, saying Trump’s accusations are misleading and ignore important historical facts. Many experts note that the Iran nuclear deal negotiated during Obama’s presidency was supported internationally and was designed to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons without starting another war in the Middle East.
The agreement, known as the JCPOA, required Iran to dismantle large parts of its nuclear program and allow extensive international inspections. In exchange, sanctions against Iran were lifted by the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations.
After becoming president, Trump withdrew the United States from that deal, repeatedly calling it terrible and dangerous. However, many foreign policy experts argued the agreement had successfully slowed Iran’s nuclear progress without military conflict.
Obama himself recently responded to the criticism during an interview. He explained that the goal of the agreement was to remove enriched uranium from Iran, create international monitoring systems, and prevent nuclear weapon development peacefully.
Obama said his administration achieved this “without firing a missile,” adding that they did not need to start a war or cause major global disruption to handle the situation.
After Trump later launched military attacks connected to Iran, tensions in the region increased sharply. Reports say gas prices rose significantly and economic pressure worsened for many Americans already struggling with living costs. Iran also shut down the Strait of Hormuz for a period, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.
Critics now accuse Trump and his allies of constantly changing their story about Iran. At different times, they claimed Iran was only weeks away from developing a nuclear weapon, even though some officials within Trump’s own administration reportedly admitted there was no clear evidence supporting that timeline.
Others also pointed out that Trump previously claimed America had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program during earlier military operations, something later reports suggested was not entirely true.
