Migrants Left in Tears After Facing a Horrific Experience at Sea They Never Saw Coming While Trying to Reach Europe

Seven people have reportedly lost their lives while trying to reach Spain by boat, in another tragic incident involving migrants crossing the dangerous Atlantic Ocean.

The tragedy happened near Lanzarote, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, after rescue teams discovered an inflatable boat carrying more than 130 migrants. When rescuers reached the boat, they found two dead bodies on board. Survivors also told authorities that another five people had died during the journey and their bodies had been put into the sea.

Spanish rescue workers managed to save 132 people from the boat, including 120 men and 12 women. The vessel was discovered about 93 miles northeast of Arrecife, Lanzarote, during the early hours of Monday morning.

It is still unclear exactly what caused the seven deaths. Authorities have not released the names, ages or nationalities of those who lost their lives. There has also been no official explanation of what happened before the rescue teams arrived.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the dangers faced by migrants attempting to reach Europe through the Atlantic Ocean.

On the same Monday, Spanish rescue services were called to another boat carrying 59 men. All 59 were rescued and taken safely to Arrecife.

Two other boats carrying a total of 71 people were also found and rescued. According to reports, rescue workers saved 262 people from four different boats during the operations.

The large number of people rescued within such a short period shows how migration across the Atlantic continues despite repeated warnings about the dangers involved.

The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, expressed sadness over the deaths and warned that the situation was becoming increasingly worrying.

Writing on social media platform X, he said the worst fears about the dangerous migration route were becoming a reality.

He explained that the Atlantic Ocean had once again claimed lives near Lanzarote and reminded people that every person who dies leaves behind a family and a personal story.

His comments highlighted the human suffering behind the figures, as families may be left waiting for news about loved ones who attempted the dangerous journey.

The route from West Africa to the Canary Islands has become one of the major ways migrants try to enter European territory. Many people make the journey in small, overcrowded boats that are not properly equipped for travelling such long distances across the ocean.

Some migrants spend several days at sea, where they may face strong winds, rough waves, engine problems and shortages of food and drinking water.

When something goes wrong far from land, rescue teams can struggle to reach those in danger quickly enough.

Although the latest figures show that migrant arrivals in the Canary Islands have fallen compared with last year, the danger has not disappeared.

According to figures from the Spanish government’s representative in the Canary Islands, 11,527 migrants have arrived in the archipelago, representing an 18% decrease compared with the same period last year.

However, experts continue to warn that the Atlantic route remains one of the deadliest journeys for people attempting to reach Europe.

They have also raised concerns about the pressure on emergency services, especially on smaller islands where rescue teams and local facilities may have limited resources.

Whenever several boats arrive within a short period, authorities must respond quickly to rescue those still at sea while also arranging medical care, food and temporary accommodation for survivors.

The latest tragedy near Lanzarote is another reminder of the risks people face when attempting to reach Europe by sea.

For the 132 people rescued from the first boat, the journey ended with their lives saved. However, for the seven people reported dead, the journey ended in tragedy.

As authorities continue to establish what happened, questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the deaths and whether more could have been done to prevent them.

The incident has also renewed concerns about how to reduce deaths along the Atlantic migration route while ensuring that people in danger at sea receive emergency assistance.
