18-Year-Old Girl Woke Up Feeling Her Blanket Moving, Then She Opened Her Eyes and Saw Every Young Woman’s Worst Nightmare

An 18-year-old girl has described the terrifying moment she woke up in the early hours of the morning after feeling her blanket being pulled away, only to discover that a stranger had entered her bedroom and was standing over her.

The frightening incident happened at around 5am on June 4 inside her family’s home in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. Police have identified the suspect as 26-year-old Lee Johnson, who is now wanted in connection with the alleged attack. Detectives have also warned that he remains at large and may be linked to other reported sexual assaults and break-ins across Pennsylvania.

Speaking anonymously alongside her parents to ABC6, the young woman recalled how she was fast asleep when she suddenly felt her blankets moving. At first, she believed she had simply shifted in her sleep and did not think anything was wrong.

Within seconds, however, she realised something was terribly wrong. She said she felt someone climb into her bed and begin touching her inappropriately. Still half asleep, she struggled to fully open her eyes but could make out a man at the foot of her bed.

She said the horrifying moment became even worse when the intruder realised she was awake. According to her account, he immediately jumped on top of her and covered her mouth in an apparent attempt to stop her from screaming.

Despite her fear, the teenager managed to cry out for help while fighting back against the attacker. Her screams woke her mother, who rushed from another room after hearing her daughter shout that someone was inside the bedroom.

Her mother said she immediately ran toward the room and saw a man running up the stairs before fleeing through the back door of the home. The suspect escaped before police arrived.

The teenager said the intruder quickly jumped off the bed and ran away as soon as he realised other family members had been alerted.

The shocking incident has left the family deeply traumatised. Her mother said none of them feel safe anymore and that they now sleep together because they are too frightened to spend the night alone. She explained that the family no longer feels comfortable inside their own home and continues to live in fear after the attack.

The family believes the suspect may have known someone living in their apartment complex, which may have helped him gain access to the building without attracting attention. They also reported that several personal belongings were stolen during the incident, including mobile phones and a purse.

Philadelphia Police have since issued an arrest warrant for Lee Johnson. He is wanted on allegations including aggravated indecent assault, burglary and unlawful restraint.

Police have released a photograph of Johnson and are asking anyone who recognises him or knows where he may be hiding to come forward. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore urged members of the public to contact investigators immediately with any information that could help locate the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department’s confidential tip line. Police say every piece of information could be important as they continue their search for the suspect and investigate whether he may be connected to other similar crimes.
